Uniqueness vs Plainness?

Hello one and all!!!!!!! Welcome back to Scottie Says! It’s another blog post!
I missed you all and I hope you did too!

First and foremost!

ARE YOU ALL SITTING OR PERUSING THIS POST COMFORTABLY!? Yes? Good! No? Sad times and find a soft and comfortable place to be…please…now….thank you… see! that’s better isn’t it!?

…What do you mean; the other passenger you just sat on disapproves!?

I never said to do THOSE sorts of things…. However, please enjoy the experience!

So, again totes soz buckets and all that jazz! I missed blogging I really did! I will update a few more times over the next few days bailawei, cos I have some time off werk! Yaaays! That’s why I'm here right nao!

So let’s dive in folks!

Now, I like dying my hair various colours at different times and for various reasons. I like wearing some eyeliner when I'm going out for clubbing or bars etc and I like accessories.

Does this make me…dare I say it, TOO unique and TOO ‘out there’ to be widely looked at and liked? My clothes style is very broad also and I like a wide range of things and styles.

It makes me wonder…Is plain – plain enough the best way to be? Or is being yourself and looking how you look, the best way, because there will always be someone out there who will want and/or like you for you and the way you look?

The reason why I bring up the ‘plain’ look is that I was listening to a song today and I thought, the lyrics, they are saying that she’s a plain girl but she shines brightly and that she doesn’t have the confidence and doesn’t see how good she is blah blah blah…. ANYHO, what I'm saying is, does that mean that some…or maybe most people, like they prefer the people who don’t dress up and like to look ‘different’ or ‘individualistic’?

Unless I'm just being silly and I'm just plain ugly. HAH soz….

(bylawei …yes I realise I'm generalising too much in this post, soz!)

As I get older I'm not so sure anymore, to be honest. I say this, because well, I’ve been in that situation where a guy once told me how he liked guys with natural hair colours and wasn’t well looking the way I look, I of course being the fool who was a lil infatuated at the time said I'd dye my hair back to black (it was highlighted green, was supposed to be blue, but hey ho…).

Anyway, I find my style calming perhaps? More as I age a little more each day, week, month and year. is this sort of thing inevitable? Or am I losing something? Is it possible to fit into social style/look conventions and still be a creative and artistic type? Or am I being silly?

Soz buckets for all the rhetorical questions, I know I have broken this unspoken rule of both blogs and essays by asking them… but, they are important I feel.

Being at work 5 days a week gives me no leeway for changing my hair colour, sad times, I KNOW RITE! I need to get back into my original world of colour, clothes, fashion, art and anything vaguely creative/different.

Do you judge a person on how they look? If they are an arty person, how can we judge that person if they have dyed hair, of a bright colour, or wear clothes that are a little bit funkier perhaps?

That’s just plain not fair, biased opinions and people need to look beyond the exterior and stop thinking of;
‘how can I walk down the road with this guy who has bright purple hair’

and more along the lines of,

‘this guy is lovely and interesting and so sweet.’

Same goes for girls too of course! We don’t discriminate here at Scottie Says ;)

All I’m saying is that, I would like people to be a little less ‘judgey’ when it comes to other’s looks, I like my uniqueness and yes I know I'm not the best out there but I am by far not the worst, so there you go!

Do you all like to change up your style? Do you have a style for every day? Or a set of clothes for each style out there? or are you simple and plain and clean? Do you dye your hair bright colours or do you keep it natural?

By the way, I am in no way against looking ‘plain’ whatever that is. I just feel a little judged sometimes for my fashion choices, which are not bad…*he says..* lol

So, Scottie Says..

Let’s all try and respect each other’s style choices and look beyond the exterior and into the heart and mind that lie beneath. You could be missing out on someone just because you might not like their hair colour or their clothes. Remember that.

Let’s all be happy and move forward, please and thank you very much!
